Italian Design Day 2024

The theme of the eighth edition of Italian Design Day 2024, "Creating Value: inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability", aims to explore the modes of production, not only in aesthetic and functional terms but also in terms of intrinsic value.
This year marks the eighth edition of Italian Design Day, the annual event that provides a global platform through a diverse range of activities, including exhibitions, meetings, presentations, competitions, and seminars, where experts, entrepreneurs, and journalists in the field share their experiences to promote Italian design worldwide.
The event is promoted and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture - Directorate General of Contemporary Creativity, and with the contribution of prominent institutions and organizations in the sector, including the ADI Compasso d'Oro Foundation, the Triennale di Milano, the Salone del Mobile, Federlegno Arredo, and the ICE Agency - Italian Trade & Investment Agency.
The objective of this edition is to address current challenges, highlighting the ability of Italian design to generate culture and promote relationships, both between craftsmanship and innovation and between different countries, sharing common values and commitments to address major global issues.

During the conference, Giampiero Bosoni offered a historical reflection on the role of some designers, both well-known and less-known, who have made a significant mark in Italian design culture, not only domestically but also internationally, contributing to the formation of the so-called good Italian design of the post-war period.

Raffaella Mangiarotti participated in the presentation of the exhibition 'The Hundred Italian Vases', set up in the outdoor spaces of the Italian Embassy in Sofia. The exhibition emphasises Italian excellence in particular in the field of interior design, tracing the history, works and most significant aspects of the vases of Italian designers of the 20th century through exhibition panels using texts and photos.

Traveling exhibition - Italy Geniale. Design Enables
Almaty, Kazakhstan
The traveling exhibition, curated by Francesco Zurlo and Carlo Martino, has already visited several cities, including Bangkok, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Singapore, and Tashkent, and is now arriving in Almaty. It showcases a selection of iconic Italian design objects and pays tribute to the creativity and work of Italian companies, organized into five categories: "Liveable", "Moveable", "Workable", "Relationable", and "Imaginable". The exhibition is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the ADI Design Museum.
